Seagrape is James Beard Award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein’s restaurant inside mid-beach’s leading lifestyle hotel Thompson Miami Beach. Named one of the best new restaurants in Miami soon after its opening in December 2014 by Condé Nast Traveler, it has been one of the hottest new restaurants in town, wowing locals and visitors alike with its fresh, flavor-forward cuisine, served in a chic, brasserie-style setting. Now, as it turns one year young, the restaurant has rolled out newly designed menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Built around smart sourcing with carefully curated ingredients both local and international, the reinvigorated menu at Seagrape, was designed by Executive Chef Jason Schaan alongside Chef Bernstein, Thompson Miami Beach’s culinary partner. “This season we’ve refined guest favorites and added in more approachable new dishes to embrace the spirit of a true brasserie,” says Chef Bernstein. “We’ve introduced some lighter fare and balanced them with hearty flavors and touches you naturally look for in winter, even in Miami! We’re continuing to highlight the cultures that inspire us while keeping in mind that you don’t need rich, heavy ingredients to deliver bold flavors.”
New lunch temptations include Roasted Tomato Bisque ($9) served with a cheddar grilled cheese sandwich; Roasted Beets ($14) with whipped goat cheese, avocado and sour strawberries; Shrimp Po-Boy ($19) with Old Bay aioli, Bibb lettuce and heirloom tomatoes; House-made Gemelli ($19) with long-stewed tomatoes, parmesan, burrata and basil; and Seared Salmon ($25) served with white bean stew, prosciutto and fennel pollen.
The updated dinner menu of rustic and approachable fare includes several new Starters such as the Papas Rellenas ($10) with short rib and tomato jam; White Water Clams ($15) with chorizo and sweet peppers; and Crispy Sweetbread Wraps ($12) with kimchee, garlic soy and crispy garlic. New Large Plates include a Black Pepper Carbonara ($24) topped with a poached farm egg, crispy bacon and parmesan; Grilled Swordfish ($26) with pumpkin farrotto, kale and greens; and a Hickory Rubbed Pork Chop ($27) served with creamed spinach, okra and whole grain mustard gravy. Savory new Sides ($8) include Brussels Sprouts with whole grain mustard crème fraiche; and Crispy Yucca with garlic and herbs.
Hotel guests and locals are invited to grab a drink before dinner in the inviting Seagrape Lounge, which now also offers Social Hour, Seagrape’s take on Happy Hour, offered Monday through Friday from 5PM to 7PM. Sip expertly crafted cocktails and wines by the glass priced at $7, plus a selection of local brews for $5, while indulging in bites from the new Bar Menu. Culinary options abound ($8-$12) including Short Rib Sliders with cotija cheese, spicy cucumbers and crispy shallots; Local Farm Tempura Veggies with sea salt and garlic aioli; Grilled Chicken Wings tossed in fermented chili hot sauce; and Crunchy Pork Belly with clam butter and greens.
